DEANTE
"TURN UP DEANTE"
HAGGERTY-WILLIS
Guitar
DeAnte hails from Washington, DC. He was loosely introduced to music by his grandmother, a local elementary school music teacher and pianist. After singing in various choirs and eventually with the WPAS Children of the Gospel, he had his instrumental beginnings in his high school drum line. During his last years in high school he sporadically took guitar lessons at a music store and a local community college, however his dream of becoming a musician wasn't realized until being admitted into the music program at Howard University. It was there that
he began learning how to play the instrument, primarily studying jazz and classical repertoire. Prior to graduation, DeAnte performed with the Howard University Jazz Ensemble and traveled to Senegal as a jazz ambassador for the St Louis International Jazz Festival. He now serves as a freelance musician and music educator, playing and teaching funk, blues, pop, gospel, R&B, jazz, go-go, and more.
